12th April Mid Week Run - RAF Marham Aviation Heritage Centre

Just seen we have to order breakfast - probably one bacon roll please, if its not too late!

After being well fed and coffee’d at The Cartshed, Gt Massingham we continued on to Marham Aviation Heritage Centre. We were greeted by Steve who was to be our guide and also by a volunteer and his Mk 1 California. Steve gave an extremely interesting tour, lacing technical details with war time historical events from WW1 through to Middle east engagements. So from string and wood to Merlin engines, jets and rockets he covered the lot. A real tour de force with a big helping of perceptive philosophical comments. Then thinking of our runs home we first stopped at Brown’s, Mundford for tea - some had cake.
The first mid week run of the year and the weather was kind to us, only a couple of showers.

A great day so thank you David for organising it. Will remember The Cartshed for the food if I’m in the area of Gt. Massingham! An excellent guided tour of the heritage centre. Great time, great people, great cars!

Feally enjoyed the day. Many thanks for arranging David. Gt Massingham Cartshed will be a stopping point for me in the future!

Photo posted by RAF Marham AHC this pm. A souvenir of a memorable mid week run. Many thanks David.

A really brilliant run, thank you David.
Steve, our guide (pictured below) gave an absolutely fascinating commentary of the timeline of the base.
