2007 NC 2.0 sport - recommended coil overs?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __MK3 NC 2007 2ltr Sport
  2. I’m based near: __essex
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: best options for coilovers- car has been lowered and that’s not for me - been advised to source coilovers as a more affordable way to get back to standard ?

Just get a std set of springs & dampers (aka coilovers), I think the Sport uses Bilstein dampers & Eibach springs. Lots available secondhand on ebay.

It’s an often made mistake: the phrase coil over doesn’t historically refer to the suspension being adjustable. It actually only means that the coil sits over the damper. For example, see this article: https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/coilover-shock-tech/

It refers to aftermarket coilovers when talking about adjustability. It sounds logical too. Coil over just means coil over shock and doesn’t imply anything on adjustability. But for some reason for most/on the streets it has become synonymous for an adjustable set of coil over suspension.

So, I think the person that recommended you coil overs meant the original ones, not after market adjustable ones.

Can’t go wrong with a set of MeisterR Zeta CRDs

Good value, adjustable and great quality.

HSD monopro, 16 way adjustable.
Great quality and finish.
£1000 approx.

MeisterR ZetaSport Coilovers for Mazda MX5 Miata (NC) 05-15 are just one of the new designs from MeisterR which claim to be even better than those mensioned above.
Have look at their website, the new designs can be adjusted back up to mx5 initial height .

Pretty sure I have one of the last sets of ZetaCRDs ever made. Fitted late last year.

Love them to bits though. I have 2007 Sport and I would say stock height is super tall. Fair enough if you need it, but targeting NC2/3 ride heights will get you around speedhumps and slopes just fine.

Stock and meisters below for reference. She will get over pretty much everything.

@PaleRider @sparks @Perks22 @PuffyPinkPanda any of you using the HSD or Meister solutions above with uprated ARB? Any comments? Started a thread looking for specific feedback on uprated / lowered road solutions when uprated ARB already in place but little feedback so far…

Using these MeisterR ZetaCRD. Because of the stiffer springs on these they recommend not uprating the anti roll bars on the sport model, which already has them in any case.
The reason for that advice, I believe, is the car may break loose from the road surface without warning on uprated anti roll bars .

Seconded. I got the same advice. The term “corners like a plank” was used.
