I own a 105K miles 1992 NA, I have a very slight whine in 5th gear, perfect in all other gears, anything to worry about?
A very slight whine? I wouldn’t be too worried about it untill it started to get worse.
Mine whines quite loudly in every gear and makes horrid rattling noises when you lift off but has done at least 6000 km like that! I wouldn’t worry about a slight whine.
I’ve changed the oil to no effect, but yours might appreciate a change if it hasn’t had one recently.
I’ve got a spare gearbox in the shed for when either it breaks or the noise gets too much to bear!
