7 previous owners too much?

Please do not get hung up on service history!
Go and look at any car you want, talk to and find out what the owner does for a living.
He might be a mechanic or an enthusiastic owner.
e.g. my car is coming up to 12 years old, the oil gets changed every 500mls and the filter every 1000mls, it has seen rain possibly 6 times in the last 10 years, to me it’s worth a million £s, to a dealer £2750.
Look at the car and talk to the owner.

P.S. please don’t slate me for changing the oil that often (like someone has done in the past) until you know what i do for a living.

Only the first 2 years services are recorded by Mazda and the last 2 had to be recovered from the local garage that it was serviced at during current ownership so 6 years of servicing are completely unaccountable.

It was up for 6k but my own resale value plummets if I pay that and I can’t explain why 6 years service history doesn’t exist

Same here I’ve used a few private plates and it doesn’t add an owner to the V5.

Back to the post the other day when someone who only does 2k miles a year and “should he change the oil and filter every year”

May be the service history is lacking due to low mileage and not wanting to pay garage costs for simple diy repairs.

Mine didn’t have a service history for the last 3 years but enough other invoices for repairs etc that I knew the previous owner looked after it and wasn’t shy on spending money on it and did the service himself.

After speaking to the owner on the phone, I know for sure they weren’t capable of servicing it themselves and there was no paperwork at all for those 6 missing years.

And yes a car should have at least an oil service every year regardless of miles covered

Very true, talking to the owner can give you an idea on how well the car has been looked after. Also, I’m now intrigued on what you do for a living. Some kind of oil tester?

My car has I think 5 owners and is a 2009. I bought it with 22,000 miles on and it still had the original Bridgestone tyres on with plenty of tread, this and various other signs lead me to believe it has had an easy life.

As has been said before, I think it is quite common for people to want these cars but then realise it perhaps isn’t for them once they have it.
