A Few Cheap Mods

Well i finally got around to getting my Xmas prezzie fitted & done a few cheap mods at the same time.

“Flash to pass” mod. 17p diode from Maplins…Flashed 3 Roadsters yesterday & not one replied lol Think i`ll get a refund?

“Lights on warning buzzer” mod. £1.99 from Maplins…Thats one loud buzzer BTW.

BMW E36 clock / cubby…£10 on Ebay… Fits a treat if you have an empty space under your single DIN stereo.

And a MP3 Pioneer headunit that Santa bought me. [Y]

All in all i`m a  happy bunny & all cheap mods if you ever need something to do.

Birthdays in February…I feel some new headrest speakers coming on.

Nice.

Clock looks good. I have a full size cubby hole at the moment, I would change out for a clock but my blackberry and iPod sit next to each other nicely in the current hole.

-Your gear knob is in better nick than mine BTW!

Here`s what you need for your ipod [Y] From MX5parts (another Xmas prezzie BTW)

Nice neat job there Dave [:D]

What did you use to fill the little gap between the stereo and the heater controls?

I positioned mine from top to bottom, so I have a slight gap at the bottom, but havent filled it yet!

I’ve thought about getting one of those tray things, seems a neat solution.

Your handbrake is also better than mine, damn you!! [::(] I see you are missing the rubber surround from the base of the gear knob, I have this on mine at least [:P]

very nice with the clock

Just a bit of the old finishing trim that was already fitted. Looks like i need to put a bit down the sides of the head unit too.

This is what i removed.

Well if you give me your rubber surround mine will be perfect & you can buy a new one…Then we will both be happy [;)]

When i bought the car the Nardi knob was missing. Managed to get the knob & a tonneau cover from an Ebay seller for £40. The rubber O rings were missing but i managed to get a couple from our machine maintenance guy at work that fitted a treat.Do you have a picture of yours so i can see what mine has missing? Maybe i can source that from work too. [Y]

I will take a pic in daylight tomorrow and post up here. I paid £1695 for the car, specifically because it had this rubber trim around the gear knob, so perhaps £1600 for the rubber trim would be fair?! [;)] (I don’t mind keeping what’s left).

Quite like that cup holder thing you have on eBay Dave, but unfortunately the designers at Mazda decided to put the electric mirror switch underneath the stereo on my Mark 1, what were they thinking!

Cheers

How inconsiderate…

Maybe you could reposition the switch to the side of the cosole where my alarm light is!

Here you are, a picture of my knob! (ooo err missus [:$])

OOOOO Young Man…

I will have to keep an eye out for the missing bit then or find something to do the job. Cheers [Y]

Just ask around for a rubber to go on your knob, i’m sure someone may help!!! [:D]

I’ve got a complete wooden knob with all the rubber bits.  I have an OEM radio/cass with the full cuddy below it.  I would like the leather gearknob from a '94M on. Anyone wanna swap knobs?   The radio and cuddy I would gladly part with as I plan to fit an LCD screen for my laptop which will be mounted under the passenger seat.

How easy was the “Flash to pass” mod.

I’m sure this is a silly question but here goes…

You mention changing the head unit. Does this mean that different facias fit different units, if that makes sense? I have a horrid silver Sony facia at the mo’ can I change this but not have to buy a whole new radio / CD thingy? Do they all fit each other or is there some way of knowing what fits what?

Cheers.
