A new bogus accessory in the new NC

The Induction Sound Enhancer is added to a now longer list of bogus "Sport" accessories that Mazda is adding in the new Miata. It began with the stupid Oil Pressure gauge and the restrained Water Temperature gauge in the NA NB, it was changed to a computerized virtuosic Oil Pressure gauge in the NC, The "Aluminum" rubber pedal covers, and now Mazda has added the Induction Sound Enhancer...
What's next? A vibrating electric operated driving wheel? A G-Force activated inflating pillows in the driver's chair located at his hips to generate a change in Center of Gravity sensation? A simulated exhaust sound filtered into the driver's ears through the sound system?
What has become of the simple unfiltered driving sensation that we have loved and cherished in our old Roadsters?

“A G-Force activated inflating pillows in the driver’s chair located at his hips to generate a change in Center of Gravity sensation? A simulated exhaust sound filtered into the driver’s ears through the sound system?”

These are great ideas! Have you suggested them to Mazda or are you waiting to secure a patent first? Nothing wrong with designing and tuning the induction to sound sporty; they design and tune the exhaust to a specific sporty note, after all.

C’est nes pas un sports car ?

Tuned induction noise - just like on the NA and NB.

In English?

I was referring to Rene Magritte’s famous (or possibly not) painting of a pipe titled “C’est nes pas un Pipe” - because it’s not a pipe, it’s a painting of a pipe.
An obscure way of agreeing with Avi’s sentiments I suppose; the 5 is going the route of all iconic models from mass producers and becoming a stylized picture of what it originally was. All large manufacturers do it, for perfectly sensible financial and regulatory reasons, and it’s not neccessarily a bad thing. To my mind an optional noise-enhancer is a step away from the ethics of the pure & simple lightweight original.
Good? Bad? pfft, just different.

Sorry my fine art education was ditched so I could study engineering. Ironically 2 years of my career so far were spent designing bits of pipe.

Also I don’t speak french.
