I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __car purchase
I’m looking for advice on rust. I am due to view a Eunos V-Spec (on 144km) this weekend. It all looks and sounds really nice from the videos I’ve been sent. However, the last MOT had two advisories:
Central rear axle corroded
General underbody corrosion
I am travelling quite a long way to see it. The price is firm at £3850. I’m wondering whether those advisories are something to be concerned about. I realise it’s hard to give an informed opinion without photos (which I don’t have), but I would be interested in people’s thoughts on whether it would be worth considering a car with the above advisories. I don’t mind spending money on it but I don’t want to spend thousands. Thank you.
Well the central rear axle is the diff, they all corrode, well the casing do. General underbody corrosion, again yes they all do but how severe is it?
You must make your own mind up if no pics are provided of the undersides whether you want to travel a fair distance to view and be disappointed.
Everyone has a different view on what’s acceptable re the amount of rust on cars or even the general condition of it for the price asked. Also bear in mind the Mk1 and now Mk2’s are considered classics, so they ask classic prices when probably they are rust buckets, hope this isn’t the case for this one.
Buyer beware as mentioned.
If you are in east yorks and want one of the best mk1’s available I have a 22’000 mile from new that is in as new condition in Howden.
It does come at a price though……
£10k
Thank you for everyone’s advice. I found out it is not expensive to have a refurbished rear axle fitted, but the seller has decided he doesn’t want to sell. My search for a nice Mark 1 continues.
