I’ve just decided to go the other way. Currently have a 1974 Triumph TR6 which i’m selling to buy my first MX5.
I’ve loved owning the TR6 - i’ve enjoyed restoring it (no prior experience) and meeting other enthusiasts through the active club scene, but the reality of owning a classic is that they require constant attention and, unless you have the skills, knowledge, tools, space and time, they will always cost more than they will eventually realise - unless you can afford a real rarity or collectors puece which will cost a mint.
If money was no object, i’d have both…but i’m looking forward to continuing my love of open top motoring in an iconic marque that won’t (hopefully) test my nerves when i emabark on a longer road trip.
Sell the kids and get a Rocketeer conversion.
