Aftermarket wheel/tyre deals - your views please

Like several others on this forum my car MX5 1.8i Sport has standard Mazda 16" alloys fitted(all appear to have been “kerbed” a bit and the finish is lifting) but has different tyres fitted.  This pains me somewhat both in terms of how it must affect the handling and for aesthetic reasons.

In seeking a cost effective solution I’ve come across wheel/tyre deals on the 'net that look very cost effective.  My concern is that these come with “fitting kits”.  Can anyone explain that?  I assume its because the wheels are not specific to one car and need extra bits to adapt them for the MX5.(?)  Are they OK?

Ask if they come with a spigot ring, which ensures a proper fit on the hub.

Be careful, the tyres are usually budget rubbish and to upgrade makes the price far less appealing. Why not refurb and get some nice new tyres?

Hmm.
