I have taken part my Air Flow Meter and have found some small bits of metal that have become un-soldered, but my question is, anyone know what these metal bits are for. The picture attached to this is one I have found on the web and it shows the metal bits intact. Are they just a strengthening device?
I’ve never pulled an AFM apart, but I doubt that those are for strengthening, they look more like part of the circuit.
See here,from a tech faq, how to repair the afm, I’m pretty sure that those connections get damaged when an AFM is pulled aprt in the wrong sequence…

You’re right, they belong under the connectors, I guess as extra contacts to the board, the previous owner must have had it apart and damaged it without realizing. One of them was shorting against another connector so that couldn’t have helped.
One thing for sure was my AFM was closer to being as clean as the picture I showed, the one in your link looks in a right state!
yep, I reckon the one in the link, can’t remember where I found it, probably spent some time under the work bench before the article was written-----------------
