Alloy wheel refurbishing

Just had mine done by JP Polishing on Canvey Island and they came back looking good!

Would definately recommend

 £££££s?

Worked out at £42.50 per wheel, £170 the set which included some sort of discount as I was recommended to him.

Looks good, are they painted or powder coated and did they do the backs?

All powder coated back and front; look like they have just come out of the box!

Certainly looks like they’ve done a good job.

Look really nice. I cheated by getting a second user set  of Fox’s complete with tyres from Ebay in good nick. I was quoted £90 per wheel to refurb and thats what the set from Ebay cost.

Plus I still have my old tyres that are perfectly useable.

Better than out the box, Mazda only paint and they don’t do the backs!

Very smart.

My wheels could do with a bit - no, a lot - of attention, they’ve been badly kerbed on the nearside and the lacquer/paint is bubbling on the spokes.
I assume you have to take the wheels off the car, remove the tyres and send them?
How long did they take to do the work?

Wheels were sent away whilst some bodywork (rear sills surprisingly!) was being done so not exactly sure how long they actually took. I was led to believe they normally take about 3 days. Wheels can be delivered with the tyres on then they are taken off, worked on, then tyres replaced and the wheels rebalanced with the counterweights put on the inside nicely out of sight. The wheels are dipped in acid, repaired as necessary then powder coated and baked (not too sure of the technicalities of the process!)

Whilst making enquiries it appeared that some of these places do also have the space to leave your car with them although it may bump up the price to account for storage but you have to weigh that up against the ‘agro’ factor. Suited me to have both jobs done at the same time as the bodyshop use this guy regularly so they dropped the wheels off and picked them up!

Money well spent as far as I’m concerned.

 They look really good.

Mine need doing…though they’re split rim so don’t know if that cranks up the price. A neighbour did recommend Halfords to me, but although theirs did come back looking really good, they did cost £63 a wheel!

I shall have to give JP Polishing a call and see what price they quote me.
