Alternative to Royal Steering Wheels in the SW?

Hi everyone! I’m wanting to get the steering wheel in my NC refurbed. I’ve seen so much about Royal Steering Wheels, and love what I see from them, but I’m just too far away (I don’t trust myself with the airbag to change it myself). Does anyone know somewhere in the South West that could do something similar (I’m in N Devon but travel regularly to Bristol).

TVM! :sunglasses:

Have an overnight to Aylesbury, and visit RSW it’d be worth it. He’s usually cheaper than a car trimmer as it’s his specialist subject.

Honestly, the airbag isnt a problem.

Does anyone know of a video or a “ How To” anywhere?

This is from a previous discussion , if any help. I guess the important line is the bottom one about battery disconnect!

They come off and apart easily. There are two bolts holding the centre horn push/air bag section on, these are behind the wheel under two rubber grommets. Once released the centre parts pulls away but you need to disconnect the airbag wire, pull the peg out of the middle of the connection and this releases the clip with the wire connection. Then it’s just releasing the SW control wires then you can undo the big nut holding the wheel in place. Leave the nut on the stub though as it prevents the wheel coming off sharply and smacking in the chin. Mine came off with a firm wiggle and a pull upwards

Before you start all this, disconnect the battery and leave for 20-30 mins, this gives the air bag time to discharge before you start removing it.

I purchased mine from RSW and swapped it over myself. I did exactly as described above, after conquering the same concerns you’ve got about the airbag. Actually It really isn’t that difficult and the swap over process with RSW was very quick and easy.
The result looks like the attached………Royal Steering Wheels get my vote. :+1:

Had mine recovered by Designls in Chobham, they did
a superb job in Nappa with only one join!

They supplied an extra piece of leather which I used to cover the spokes.
