Has anyone out there changed their alternator belt on a mk 2 recently? if so how did you manage to undo the bottom pivot bolt at the back of the alternator. Mine seems to be stuck solid and no room for my sockets in there and my spanners are to long to allow any movement. Maybe I need to remove the undertray and get to it from underneath? any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Got the same problem on my Mk1 1800, struggled the other week cut hands and forearms and gave it up as a sad job, still did not manage to loosen the bolt - Can any one confirm if going from underneath is the only option and what spanner size is it - tried 12, 13, 14 etc and no luck locating properly.
It’s a 14mm. I work from the top so don’t know if it’s easier from underneath. The intake manifold support braket comes off easily (just bolted top & bottom) if that’s any help for access.
