I’ve been told by the AA I need a new alternator, I cant quite afford a new one so im looking for a second hand one.
Does anyone know if a 2002 alternator will fit my 1998 1.8 mark 2? Unfortuantely im at work and my dad cant see any numbers on my existing one. I can get hold of a 1998 one but would prefer newer if possible.

Shows it to be the same part from 1998>2005, so it should be OK [Y]
Thats what I thought but guy from Autolink said the numbers are different on the 2002 one and something about the ECU??

From autolink, shows it does the lot as well [:S]
You might be as well giving a dealer (or two) a phone - they should know!
I spoke to a few dealers, the 2002 alternator has different part number and higher amps than the 1998 one so i’ve ordered the older correct one from Autolink!
