Any Westerners on here?

Having never been, anyone know if there is somewhere we can meet up at the Rally? Eg club or regional stands? Could agree a time and place for Westerners to meet up.

I’ve never been too, is there regional parking or just turn up and park?

I’m going up tomorrow as well hopefully the weather will hold of until the evening it will be my first meeting as well

Would be good to meet up and see if we can get something happening in the Western area and find out what’s involved

Hope to get to meet some of you later. How about we aim to meet somewhere at 12.00? Just need to find somewhere.

I meet up with David today noticed his two little dogs

Yes, wife and I met him as well. Really enjoyed today, including the drive home in the rain (rediscovered the A4). I will let David speak for himself, but hopefully we can all get something going on in the West. Steve.

Hello Westerners. Great to meet you yesterday. Being honest by the time I got home I sort of crashed out. Was great to see you both and so many MX-5’s in one place.
As I explained to both of you it’s quite a big region and would require good local knowledge to make arrangements for socials and drives.
I will offer my services to help get the wheels in motion but would appreciate input from anyone in the area on what they would like to do and places to meet more local to themselves.

So if you’re in the region let’s see your cars and where you are?

Hi, David Harris, also Steve Gilkes and Steve Ballard. I’m Terry Taylor from the Kingswood Bristol area. I’m fortunate to be retired and available in the day, throughout the week. I bought an NC this Sunday 14th so I’m ready to go.

My first short trip will be a meet at the Mall car park (As close to the M&S food hall entrance as possible).
Then off on the M5 M4 over the old Severn bridge to Chepstow, along the Wye Valley through Tintern onto Monmouth for pie and a pint. Then back, using the upper road through Llanishen to Chepstow and home. I’m going any way on the day suggested, but if you, or other members of the Western section want to come along your welcome. .

My suggestion is, The Autumnal Equinox, meet at 10:45 on 22nd September for a 4 hour ramble. Any one got a better idea then contribute.

As the nights are drawing in there won’t be many scenic night runs left this year. So lets make the best of what weve got in the day.

Terry Taylor (New member to the Owners Club)

PS No need to reply, I will be at the M&S entrance at the given time’ I hope to see you there.

Sorry, I’ve been a bit busy with work all week, Terence, sadly I won’t be able to join you as I’ll be working but that does sound quite a nice day out.

Hi all. I’m away on holiday for the next couple of weeks. Would be great if we could meet up to chat about the way forward for the region. I’m happy to help so please keep me in the loop. Steve.

Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone knows of any updates to the co-ordinator vacancy for our area? Or any more thoughts of a meet up in the interim?

++ Please note this event is not an MX-5 Owners Club event and as such they are entirely outside the Club’s control. ++

Ex Westerner here, officially in North Thames group now, but make it to the west country as often as possible. I am planning on going to the final Bristol Pegasus Motor Club breakfast meet of the season at Forest Dean Railway on Sunday 26th October, entry free.

If anyone fancies meeting up before and or after and then going for a drive see 2 listed options leave a message below with prefered option/s :-

Option 1 meet at Aust Services at 8 am leave 08:30 and take a circuitous route to arrive at the Forest Dean Railway for 09:30 breakfast meet.

Option 2 meet at Forest Dean Railway 9:30 leave 10:30 take a circuitous route to Burrington Combe in time for lunch.

++ Please note this event is not an MX-5 Owners Club event and as such they are entirely outside the Club’s control. ++

However hope fully it will give members in the Western area some encouragement to meet up and get the area group back on it’s legs.

Hi Art, many thanks for your post, this sounds great and very welcome. Unfortunately, I can’t make that day, as on the Friday my wife and I are having our very own MX-5 adventure with a weekend away in Lynmouth & Lynton. And apologies, as this is our first time away together on our own without the kids in nearly 20 years, no-one else is invited! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

No worrries, have fun in Lynmouth and Linton, look out for Madge as I hope to pop down to Lynmouth on the Friday for a quick pastie on my way to Bristol

We’ll keep our eyes peeled! We’ll be coming from the east, from Somerset, and will either be on the B3224 road, or the coastal road through Minehead. It’s somewhere we’ve never been to before, so just want to avoid any part of the motorway or major A roads. Hopefully, it’ll be dry and we can have the roof down!

If you have never been before you and your car will love it especially from Porlock Hill to Lynmouth. Over the last few years I have made the occasional detour that way on my way to Tescos…. in Watford ! Shoud be any number of fun routes on Waze avoiding the motorways. I’ll be looking out for you. So many roads to explore around there have a great time.
