Hi to everyone that attend Tech/Social day to day, many thanks to you all for coming and also we hope that you managed to get the "little " jobs done to your cars !
Also many thanks to you all for your cards/gifts and good wishies to me for my birthday I will  remember this day  for a long time. Hope you all got home safely.
Well we actually did a tech day and throughly enjoyed the whole thing, a big thanks to Clive & Gail for their hospitality and warm welcome to their home.
We got all three jobs done, new door speakers, they had a top down blast on the way home, highly recomend thanks to the extra hands on this.
A second hand o/s headlight unit that without the tips from Brian on wednesday would have been a real challenge, thanks to Andy for the hands on with the bulb clip.
The new front grill which was not as simple to fit as the one that was taken off, Mal was there with the ratchet, thanks.
We even got an unexpected job done, well done Andy, if youâre free on a saturday afternoon feel free to bring your cleaning gear over for another wash.
A big thanks to Robbie for your advice and assistance, Jo said she enjoyed the banter!!
I wasnât holding out much hope for the weather for this tech day, but once again it turned out fine.
Again, I really enjoyed myself, sorry I if appeared rude at anytime, Iâm aware that sometimes when people are talking to me I have to go off and do something, maybe halfway through a conversation.
Thanks to all the experienced tech dayers who were there to give advice and assistance to others. Having some extra pairs of hands there also made taking photos for the How To guide loads easier.
Happy Birthday Gail, I donâ think I said it today, in fact I donât think I had the opportunity to say much to you at all. Thanks to you and Clive for providing the venue and to The Original BBQ Company for the burgers.
Love the banter tooâŚ
Marc: The advantage of being a bloke is that you donât have to think about which way to turn a bolt to undo it. Jo: Your car, I think, was probably the best one there, If I had to chose any of them Iâd have yours. April: I didnât mind queing for my burger, I wonât make a fuss about it. sjk: The oil filter was only hand tight and the new one is the correct size.
Hi Clive and Gail,
Thanks for a great day and for your hospitality. We both enjoyed it very much. Once again a Happy Birthday Gail.
It was nice to get stuck in and greasy and resurrect some of my ancient skills. Looking forward to the How to guide in Softtop Hardtop and the pictures of my bleeding hands on the spanners. Everyone deserves 5 minutes of fame. Was it Andy Warhol who said that?
Unfortunatly one of the key photos was well out of focus so Iâll not be able to use them for a guide now, unless you want to do the job all over again Kev.
Just in case anyone else has this "what way to undo a bolt problemâ its Lefty Lucy Righty Tighty and If you hold your left hand up it makes the shape of a L and the right does notâŚâŚâŚ.
What a great tech day. Thanks to Clive and Gail for all the booby cakes!!! Happy Birthday huni xx Company was amazing as normal. And Mr Marsh, I am so glad you donât mind waiting for your burger, I would hate to hear you moan! !!!
April and I would like to thank Gail and Clive for a great tech day and thanks for your hopitality, it was fun. Happy birthday to Gail(only 79 today)but looks good for it!!!Lol KevâŚResurrect some of your ancient skills, whatâs that? Smashing your hands to bits??? Iâve heard of being plastered but thatâs going a bit far, looks like you did a sterling job on Libby and Marcs car though. Oh well, thatâs it with tech days until next year I guess. Brian & Ape.
Many thanks to you all for coming along today and helping out with the cars, the teas and coffee, the food, the drink and the conversation - what a fantastic day!
For the record, at least 42 folk turned up that I was able to count, although Iâm sure there may have been a couple of extras hiding in the kitchen and sampling the vast range of low calorie biscuits and cake.
On the technical side we had electric windows sorted, Footwell lights rectified, megga sound systems incorporated, front grills sorted, light clusters upgraded, spark plugs replaced, after a little shopping!! - anyone looking for a set of plugs for their Mk3?, oil and filter changed, ball joint rubber boots replaced, steering rack âsqueezyâ thing replaced, rear brake mechanism freed and handbrake adjusted, not to mention the adjustment to a hood and the only spillage was Kevâs blood when he realised that hammers, spanners and fingers donât all have the same function.
A huge thanks to all those who got down and dirty, to Brian for his hand made burgers, and to Robbie whose expertise was invaluable, especially when his magic touch released a ball joint that everyone had tried to split - and was heard to say, it was not a problem, you must have loosened it for me!! Finaly a big thanks to Gail and all the ladies who kept us fed with coffee and cakes throughout the day - It was a day to remember.
You must have seen the booby cakes!! if not we have a few left if you want one - how can I describe itâŚItâs a biscuit with a booby in the middle!!!
Hi Brian, With hindsight I should have got plastered before I smashed my hands to bits. It wouldnât have hurt then. As you say, 'till next time. Looking forward to it. Kev.
Nope, didnât see much food at all to be honest, I saw a couple of burgers (but only for a minute or so) and some biscuits (which left crumbs on someones bonnet) but that was about the extent of it.
Iâm not complaining though, I saw lots of MX-5 stuff so I was happy, but if Iâd known there were boobies to look at I may have found some time.
Can this topic not degenerate into filth now please? Booby jokes are not big or clever.
