Certainly interesting to see that it is getting noticed.Ā Iāll double check that my cruise is deactivated when I switch off and Iāll keep an eye on what is happening with Mazda UK.Ā I may even contact them.Ā I have already called my dealer but there wasnāt much in the way of a useful response from them.
Thereās been an update on the Pistonheads thread

Sorry, I canāt convert it to a proper link from my mobile.
After reading this I thought Iād better try my ND as I havenāt started it for about 6 weeks but it started ok no issues while I was there I put my charger on it and it read 13.1 Volts
Never had an issue with my ND. Maybe because I hardly ever use āCruise Controlā as I find it a pain in the arse on our overcrowded motorways, where traffic speeds are constantly changing and if you leave a gap to the car in front, somebody always feels obliged to fill it and cause me to brake! The only time I find it remotely useful is when there is a 50 mph limit on the motorway where everybody seems to be able to maintain in all 2/3 lanes.Ā Ā
Never had this problem on my ND. Ā I generally use it as a toy but when it goes out it covers large miles. Ā Hope this continues.
Just a few facts after keeping some data from my ND. The cruise control is off and the boot light is off.
Over 26 daysĀ the fully charged battery lost .24 Volts. The car was never touched in this time.
Over 4 days the fully charged battery lost the same amount. The car was unlocked and locked twice and the ignition was activated (to release the steering lock) once. The car was not started.
From the above it looks like the drain ofĀ the untouched car is reasonable. and is similar to our classic Mini. But if the car is unlocked and the ignition is activated there is substantial drain so in conclusion our ND seems to be good as long as you do not keep āplayingā with it during periods of inactivity.
My battery went flat really quickly. Found the solution (which has been acknowledged by Mazda as a Software Fault). Do NOT leave the Cruise Control selected when leaving the car - if you do the instrument panel stays āliveā and the battery is flattened in 7-10 days. It took a lot of research to identify the fault but my theory was tested by the dealer and if Cruise Control is left selected then the battery drain is 10 times greater than the usual drain.
at least MAZDA UK are consistant with customer serviceā¦dear valued customer #doone!!!
Thanks [revjamesp] ! Really helpful.
Does anyone here recommend a battery upgrade product to replace the OEM?
Beautiful 6.5 year thread bump
