Battery replacement

Is it imperative that I fit a AGM battery to my Mazda MX5 Nevada 03
Been offered an alternative at a very much reduced price
Not intended to roll the car !!!

Panasonic is the only one I would recommend. Correct fit and breather pipe connections in place. You may find cheaper alternatives but not better in my opinion.

I originally went the non-Panasonic route because I had to get something very quickly and it was cheaper, and didn’t think it would matter. Big mistake. It had the +/- terminals the wrong way round, no proper venting, it was the wrong size so rattled around, the clamp didn’t fit properly, and it didn’t last any time at all. When I came to change it I bit the bullet and went with the Panasonic. Suddenly everything worked. The terminals were the right way round so the cables connected properly without straining them, the battery fitted properly, the clamp did its job, the venting just plugged in, and it’s still going strong. Mine is actually a sealed gel battery, not AGM, so on advice from CTEK I use the ‘normal’ setting on the charger.

I’m a Yuasa AGM fan.
No venting required and AGM batteries have more cranking power.
Fit and forget.
Halfords do them, so get your 10% discount as an MX5 oc member
