The Bill or from the other side of the pond… C.H.i.P.S
The only BOSCH I can find is in my local power tool shop, and my van
Can’t believe so many people have not watched The Wire! It’s not only the best cop show ever, it’s one of the best TV shows ever!
PS, read the book that started it all off too:

Juliet Bravo ?
Operation Good Guys
Sweeney the best ever
Dennis Waterman also stars in NewTricks, which is quite enjoyable
Personally, I’m not a huge crime fan but I’ve always loved Ashes to Ashes, Murdoch Mysteries, Due South and Rizzoli & Isles, probably because there’s a lot of humour in those programmes so felt quite accessible
My wife watched the Wire, although her favourite is Midsommer Murders, which makes me laugh, seriously if I lived in a village that suffered murders that frequently I’d move!
I’ve often just thought that about John Nettles. I’m sure Jersey doesn’t have that high a crime rate on its own
I couldn’t agree more Chris! Just absolutely loved it. Series 7 will be the last, unfortunately. I have read all Michael Connelly’s Bosch books. All terrific. He also has a character who is a journalist called Jack McEvoy. The Poet/The Scarecow/The Narrows all well worth a read. Cheers!
My post favouring ‘No Activity’ was a bit tongue in cheek…so I’ll demonstrate my maturity with two , Endeavour and Inspector George Gently, watchable every time they are aired

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, it’s a shame they don’t police like that anymore, good music as well. We have just bought the box sets of both and in one early episode of Life on Mars you had a couple of tracks from Deep Purples Fireball album.
Another vote for Bosch. Absolutely superb.
Life on Mars was an absolute classic. Brilliant!
Some scenes were so well produced with the soundtracks that they gave me that shivers down the spine feeling. One scene which springs to mind was backed by The Strawbs ‘Lay Down’.
Then there’s Inspector Morse and I’m now well into the (sort of) prequel, Endeavour.
My vote goes to the The Shield.
Mackey’s not a cop. He’s Al Capone with a badge.
I love this show.
Plus lots of the actors later appear on SAMCRO.
What’s not to like!
Bosch for me, but don’t stop at just the tv series read all Michael Connelly’s books. Beats all the rest of that genre eg P. James, P. Robinson, M Bellingham, etc although Ian Rankin had a fair stab at it with John Rebus IMO. All good stuff though.
Err…. It’s Spiral on BBC IPlayer. C’est magnifique.
I so aree with you both. I’ve read all the books, and watched all the series on Prime. I don’t think I’ve ever figured out “who dunnit” in any of the stories. I’ve enjoyed the Renee Ballard series as well - four so fr I think. With a son who lived in California until recently, I’ve been to lot of the places which feature, so I’m able to relate quite well to the geography. Connolly’s writing is of the highest order.
Recently re-watched the whole run of Johnathon Creek on iPlayer. Hadn’t seen it since it was first on telly- thoroughly enjoyed!
