Hi Im after a cheap Mk1 preferably in blue and as close to Doncaster as possible. Looking to spend arround £1000. Seen a few good examples within my price range just too far away. Iv been looking for about a month with no real luck. Can anyone help?

MX-5 City near Conisbrough might be able to point you in the right direction even though they will sell Mk1s worth a fair bit more than you’re hoping to pay. I think they source parts from breakers as well as renovating or trading in renovated cars themselves, so should be able to tell you where to look for cheaper base vehicles that will need doing up. You’ve obviously looked on Autotrader already? If you don’t find anything within range but have seen examples further away, all I can say is that for £1000 wherever you buy it you’ll have to do a fair amount of work to make it roadworthy, but all the work will be straightforward and you’ll have access to lots of good advice and sources of parts through this forum…in other words, go and get your MX-5 wherever it is and start enjoying the ride!!!

Couldn’t resist looking on AutoTrader and there’s two blue Mk1s under a grand, one is an automatic 12 miles from Manchester, the other’s a manual near Cardiff. The best buy is the next one that comes up - a 1996 Gleneagles at £1250, no idea where it is but if you want to invest your time and diy renovation skills in something worthwhile, phone 07922 152211 and find out where it is. It’s one of 400 so quite rare. If you renovate this car it’ll be worth twice as much and keep its value. There’s not even much that seems to need doing - a bash on a wing and a worn driver’s seat, both are easily fixed.
Ok Iv looked everywere, just missed a good deal by 10 mins, upped my budget by a few hundred pounds. Im stuck for ideas.

If I cant find anything by the end of this week I will have to blow half my budget to my other car on the road lol.
