BMW 135i - Anyone have experience with the 6 cylinder turbo engines?

I still have my Z4, but it’s a 2007 E86 3.0Si Sport Coupe and I think you are referring to the E89 2009+ generation. Mine has a three litre naturally aspirated six cylinder. The Coupe is surprisingly practical, but of course the roof doesn’t go down. A good place to ask about all things Z4 is the Z4 Forum (z4-forum.com). My MX-5 got a lot of love when I posted a thread about it so you should have no trouble finding members willing to compare the different generations of Z4 with an MX-5.

If it’s of any interest, my 335i is now up for sale.

Off topic, but how did you rate the BM against your GT86?

Two very different cars!

The GT86 felt more nimble, and you sat closer to the ground. The Subaru boxer engine is not especially nice (it has a torque dip and doesn’t make any great sounds). Styling was a bit “boy racer” for me (it’s a very, very long time since I was a boy!) It was bought as a daily commuting car when I was doing a 50-mile round trip every day.

The BMW is on a different plane in terms of build quality, materials, comfort, equipment, etc, and is a faster car. The twin-scroll straight six is a fabulous engine. It is also a convertible (and was primarily bought as a holiday car - hence did under 7k miles in it in 3.5 years).

I did look at the GT86 also but doubt it is much faster then my mapped 2.0 NC.

I watched a video of the new GR86 228hp VS the 2.0 ND 181hp, in the quarter mile it was neck and neck.

N55 sounds very nice, closest I can get to RB26 or 2JZ-GTE sounds without dropping £20k+

Only sad thing about them is lack of LSD, seems crazy for this kind of car.
