Bonnet Slightly Out Of Alignment?

I have a 1993, MK1, and have recently noticed that the ‘gaps’ above ( i.e towards the windscreen) the pop up headlights are different, also the passenger side of the bonnet seems slightly raised compared to the drivers side.  Could this be due to some slight misalignment of the bonnet on its hinges, and does anyone have any ideas / tips to realign the bonnet?  I seem to remember reading somewhere that the bonnet is aluminium and losing the alignment is a common problem.

Its only a miinor point, but may as well have it right…  Thanks in anticipation.

Could well be a sticking hinge, try lubricating them b4 you start undoing all the bolts

You can twist the bonnet back to the shape you would like around the windscreen area as it will be made of aluminium and you can do the same with the pop up headlamp covers, they too are made from aluminium.

The rear edge of the headlight cover can be massaged up or down to give a “perfect” panel gap with a bit of finger and thumb work followed by a bonnet shut, figure out which bit needs tweaking and repeat. The gap will reapear the next time you open the bonnet to do some mechanicing or “looking” because guess where you rest your hands when looking in the engine bay!!

The other problem you get is the bonnet hinges dry out causing the back edge of the bonnet to sit proud of the wing tops; the cure is to oil them and push downwards in the hinge area on the closed bonnet.
