My brakes (235 mm) are rusty as the car is not used a lot but it is very original.
I feel I should replace them but in which case should these be OEM or a replacement type which, I assume, will improve braking.
If a replacement type is used do I need to inform my insurer?
If you’re changing the brand though staying within the original specification probably no advisement required.
If you’re uprating (big brake kit, brembo’s etc) then probably.
As usual only your insurance company can truly advise, most are willing to give up front advise without penalty or cost in my experience.
