I use “autoaid” £37 ish per year for full cover, you get a number to ring like the AA or RAC etc but when the recovery guy (or girl) comes out to you they need paying for the service which you then claim back off of Autoaid. If you rarely use the service and just have it “just in case” like most drivers this seems the best way. I spent years paying for AA/rac membership and never using it so this way I have peace of mind that there is someone to call if I cant get going myself and it’s not casting and arm and a leg.
I’ve used Autonational for a few years on a number of cars. They’ve been fine the 2 times we needed them (once to tow an overheating Rover to get a radiator sealed, and another time to start the Rover which had loss of spark).
They don’t have their own fleet, but arrange for a local garage to pick you up / do the work. Both outifts they used were fine and very professional.
