I have a 2004 Euphonic which my Mazda dealer is having trouble coding a new ignition key into. Can Mazda read this key and check that the number they are trying to enter is the correct one, or even if the key is working at all. My Mazda dealer thinks not. They have now got in a replacement (used) immobiliser and want to swap it with mine to see if the new key works with this. I have suggested that they return the key to Mazda to check that it works but they seem reluctant to do this as they don’t think Mazda can do it. I’m really frustrated at this as I’m going to have to fork out for this immobiliser.
sounds like its gona be expensive steve, does your existing key work ok, and just out of interest was the new key just as a spare
dont know much (nothing) [;)] about these things, but it sounds more like the new key to start with hope ya get it sorted soon,
Ye, I’m only after a spare. The original key works fine. I’m going in to get the replacement immobiliser fitted to see if it’s that or the key. It’s a second hand immobiliser so shouldn’t be too expensive (I hope). This will be my third visit and at nearly 2 hours for the round trip its getting expensive on my time.
just out of interest, lets know the outcome steve,
I’m going in this afternoon for them to fit this replacement immobilser. I’ll keep you posted.
I tried to find out from Mada UK if they could read the key. I got through to their customer relations lot who passed me on to the Customer Resolution Manager at my local dealers. Talk about going round in circles! He wasn’t any help at all.
Just got back from Mazda where they fitted the replacement immobiliser. Still no joy with the key. Now why am I not suprised at that. Lots of technicians standing around scratching their heads. They are going to order another key. Then back for the fourth time to see where we get with that. Oh joy!!
Do you know how far they get with the programming of the new key?
I’m not sure of the exact proceedure that is used but they said that the numbers were accepted as they were entered but the final action (the equivalent, they told me, of pressing the ENTER key) did not work.
