Just bought a tonneau cover off of ebay told it would fit my mk2.5 icon but does seem to, is it me not fitting it corectly or have bought the wrong one. can anyone advise

Leave it somewhere warm and try again. It may be shrunken slightly
As already refered to ,I find it very difficult to fit when cold. There has to be a little stretch in the in the fabric, much easier when warm.
is there diffrent fittings because the popper fittings on the cover look diffrent to fittings on the car
Press studs on a Mk2/2.5 tenax poppers on a Mk1
Can you post a pic,it sounds like you may have a Mk1 one,which is not a major problem,all you need to do is change the poppers(4) on the roadster for the stud type from a Mk1 mx/roadster,Phone Andrew at Autolink and ask for 4,change them and it will fit,to be honest the Mk 1 ones were a lot better made and last longer anyway.
