Hi i fitted new lights to my mx5 mk1 when i turned them on it made a click noise the lights was working perfectly however when i turn my engine on now the car starts up and then shuts down immediately dose anyone know what thos issue could be and how to fix it
1st job is to locate ALL the fuses then check them with a multimeter.

Not sure if this is going to be much help as I doubt you’ll have needed to unplug anything but… I recently had a problem starting my mk1 after moving some switches around the dashboard. At one point it even did the exact same symptom as you, started and immediately died again. Then it changed to the car would just keep turning over but no spark. I thought it might be the immobiliser kicking in for some reason. Eventually I found the answer. As I had the centre console out I hadn’t got the hazard lights AND the handbrake warning switch plugged in. Plugged those in and it fired up again.
Obviously some kind of failsafe. So, your issue might be something along the same lines?
