Central locking NC operating on/off when door open

Related, but unrelated so to speak……I have a Golf GT Sport, last year the engine management light came on and the fault code indicated an air intake control valve malfunction. I replaced the unit with a new one but the fault code kept coming back. I went to a good VW specialist who suggested that a wire or a connection may have ‘furred’ with corrosion, as he’d seen this before. He suggested that as the sole purpose of this valve was to close for three seconds when the ignition is switched off, and make for a smoother engine shutdown, it may be easier to live with than to trace and fix.

Oddly, over the colder, wetter winter months the EML went off, then a couple of weeks ago during a warmer spell, it came back on again ! The annoying thing with electrical faults……they can take ages to trace, and then just five minutes to fix.

Yes, I think I’ll live with it until something more serious happens. Illl give it a quick look though when I have the energy. Might be a loose or corroded wire or connector. Certainly seems that way if I can stop it with a whack.

My Vitara did this just before the battery died could you battery need recharge/replacing

Another thought if a door is not shut properly the central locking will lock then unlock again immediately so there could be a fault with one of the door switches I think you have been discussing this with RR
