Chassis brace dimensions NC

Very interesting idea, next time I jack the car up for any reason, I will try to remember

Hi
Already had the standard engine bay strut brace . I am referring to the full underbody brace kit (the red ones) from mx5 parts.I was not looking / expecting any " performance increase" .
What I was after as NCDuratec was reffering too was a reduction in any NVH / shudder especially given the condition of our roads and to that end I can certainly feel a more plusher ride.

We, the forever bewildered, love the placebo effect.
When I bought my Mark 1 the only thing I didn’t like was the way, on a particular piece of rough road surface approaching a right turn, the front end developed St Vitus Dance.
I bought a Mr Slow front chassis brace bar. To my surprise and delight the front end started behaving itself and I got the impression it turned into corners sharper.
Of course, it was all my imagination.

Yes its amazing how the forever bewidered are strangely always right and discredit anyone else’s thoughts and experiences, that halo must be awfully heavy to carry around.

I suspect everyone is a little bit right.
There won’t be much measurable movement in a car that is twisting - unless you measure diagonals accurately. A square can be turned into a diamond shape without altering the lengths of the sides.
But then, even the tiniest change can set up harmonic movements at speed. See what happens when a puny bit of wheel balancing falls off. It’s an accepted fact that soft tops flex more. So is noticing the difference when you drive a hard top saloon just imagination?
Racing teams may not have chassis bracing underneath but they might be after a more flexible chassis to suit their needs. That’s why they take it off?

Need someone to answer the original question. Dimensions

Interesting points of view in post , thanks to all who gave input.

Looking at the OP’s picture, I have to agree that it doesn’t do much. But mine also has a mounting point torn away. So I can’t agree that this particular brace does nothing, it’s just not doing its job. That does make an argument for something more substantial.

I’ve just been out in the car after fitting the ILMotorsport item nearer the rear of the car. First impressions is the rear end feels calmer. It wasn’t night and day but it didn’t feel like I’d wasted any money.
Someone suggested the aftermarket bracing products for the MX5 makes the car feel more sophisticated rather than a bigger beast. I think that a decent pitch to make. Also is the argument not bracing a car with a transmission tunnel is bonkers👍

I fabricated a new brace from 5mm aluminium plate , total cost £23

At last we can break away from those awful continentals! When are you going into mass production?
