I had a bog standard ‘K’ reg Escort mk1 1300L. Does that count?
The closest I ever came to one of those was in my local scrappy back in the early 1970s, when I stripped the gearbox out of it, and was then given its five 5 1/2 J flat-ledge steel rims (without tyres) for a pound each.
I recognised it immediately but the engine, diff, instruments, seats and badges etc were gone already, and scrappy didn’t know it was anything special.
Access was easy, the front wings etc had been cut off!
Happy Days.
My earliest memory was a Lotus Cortina. There used to be one a few doors up from my aunts house. I’d love to have one but sadly my piggy bank hasn’t got enough pennies in it. An MG TC would be nice too.
One of my colleagues at Uni had a 1930s MG TA Tickford which he was restoring in between Law lectures.
It never seemed to go anywhere and seemed to be rotting faster then being renewed, and in my motorcycling eyes at the time it was the last thing I would have owned.
But it was very pretty.
Indeed it is. I have a 1/18 scale model of one in my office, and drool over it daily !
I’d like one of those, interesting car. I ran an Avantime for 3 years and bar my MX5’s it was my favourite ever car…… I wish I still had it.
The Nissan pulsar GTIR. Always wanted one until I was old enough to have one, then thought it wasn’t worth the hassle.
Oehh, my dad had the Orange “Sound model”
In the Netherlands it was called the Fiat Ritmo
I like how you managed to line the wheels up for the photo. It does make it look like it’s going faster. Thanks for a much-needed laugh. ;->
XR3i… back when my mates all had Mk2 RS2000’s.
Hand built by Roberts if I am not mistaken
Designed by Commuters and
Using parts from the fabulous FIAT 128 so I am not knocking them.
