so !, where to start ?, I recently took possession of my recently passed cousins MX-5 Na , ( see post ,finally its arrived ) .
the car is fitted with a cobra alarm/ immobiliser , the issue is we can’t find the push button key for , we do have the little black touchy fob thingy ?
fitted a new car battery alarm activated , touched the fob on its dock and the alarm deactivates, put the key in the ignition and the alarm activatesa gain , I have no push button fob and no pin number, what can I do ? , greatfull for ant input , cheers
Try double or triple touching it (I can only speak of the 2-button fob, but after a lack of use/flat battery they, or at least ours - not on an MX-5, can be a bit of a nuisance to get behaving properly). Oh and, make sure the roof is down in case you get locked in
Also, I see that you inherited the car, is it possible you got all the documentation/service history (or can still get hold of it) as you might have or find the install guide that comes with the alarm, so you can narrow down exactly what Cobra model you have which may help with troubleshooting.

thank you for that ill give it a go , there is paperwork , but ill have to wait untilhis affairs are sorted before I get all that ,
That’s likely to be an immobiliser fob, not alarm related. The alarm should disarm when you’ve unlocked the car, but if a battery replacement has been done it likely won’t be happy until you’ve gone for an engine startup.
Firstly for troubleshooting, I’d detach the fob from the keyring so you can test a bit more easily.
A similar system was fitted to my old NA. Fob contact was on the side of the steering column cowling, but obviously it can be installed in quite a few places. Mine had a small light next to it. You’d get in, touch the fob to the contact, hold for a second, then the light would flash quickly to confirm the immobiliser was disarmed. You then needed to put the key in the ignition and start within a certain timeframe - from memory it was within 2 mins.

Yep that’s the alarm electronics unit, under the bonnet I presume?
Can you take a few photos of the whole bonnet area, that aren’t as zoomed in as that one.
