Competition to create a banner for the top of the new forum?

Mod type people, Would this idea be do-able?

Members to create a banner to put at the top of the page - including the twig, text and a space for the advert and it to be changed each month?
It would need to be based on a photograph that they had taken and could be seasonal etc.

It is quite sucessful on the japnortheast.co.uk forum. Members vote on their favourite banner and it is featured during the next month.
This is this month’s banner on JNE

Can we even do polls on this new forum?

Technically, polls are possible I believe, but are not currently active.
Hopefully will be soon though.

Oh, and regarding the actual topic, it sounds like a plan, as long as people contribute, it should work.

Even if it was just a background that the current text/graphic was placed over…

we had something i remember on the last forum where people sent in pics of their cars and when you logged on the pictures changed everytime. It was quite cool when you logged on and it was of your own car.

This sounds like a good idea. Almost a ‘photo competition’ like in STHT but for the forum users.

At the moment the forum header, as its constructed would be a real pain to alter, however what I would like to see is some different images on the website home page. www.mx5oc.co.uk.  We have about 3 that we use but no reason why we can’t have lots more including seasonal ones and special event ones.  Just need to be same size as the current one, preferable still with a “click here to join” on it somewhere.  Any offers ?

That’s a start I suppose, but I wonder how many people actually visit that page often. I have the “posts since last visit” page bookmarked rather than the OC main page.
If you want images for the front page, perhaps an advert in the “hardtop softgit” magazine as well? It might eve drum up some new members to the forum (though I presume there will be a massive article about the new forum in the next issue anyway - if not, WHY NOT? [;)] )
The image is 603px × 424px but does it need the little pictures at the bottom? This is the current one if anyone was wondering:

Come on then members, get photoshopping!

It should be quite simple to replace this part -  - probably not quite what you were hoping for, but should be a straight forward thing to encorporate.

Once things have settled in a bit, then maybe tweaking the top layout and so on could be done to allow for full banners.
