No need to buy Pro to get rid of these messages.
In Avast Free Antivirus, just go to Settings > General > Notifications and tick the box “Use silent mode and turn off all pop-ups, alerts and messages”.

Not sure as I haven’t tested but would that not stop the alerts for updating Definitions - which I never leave on automatic I like to know when things are doing updates as they can slow machines or pause start-up or shutdown - not good if you are in a hurry Just the control freak pedant here
We run a very large enterprise (30,000+ devices) on Windows Defender and also use Zscaler for web filtering.
You wouldn’t expect to use something like Zscaler in a domestic setting however common sense when browsing sites, opening attachments and sharing personal information is a requirement for being let loose on the internet, maintain your software patch levels too.
Yes, it does stop those alerts. I let it update the Definitions file automatically (can’t see any reason not to), but I do any Program (sic) updates manually.
I run both SUMo and Patch My PC Updater daily, so I am always aware of which of my programmes have updates available, although I tend to do the updates myself manually.
