I popped into my local dealer today and had a look at a few used mk3’s and every single one of them had condensation on the inside of the windscreen.
Is this a usual thing?
I remember having condensation issues when I had the mk1, but that was due to the roof having more splits & tears than an old canvas scout tent.
The RX8 I had suffered minor condensation on the left side which was pretty common and cleared pretty quick, but these were across the whole screen and would need to be leathered off.
I’ve seen condensation on the inside of the windscreen in the other half’s Corsa, and I doubt that’s due to a leaky soft top! I’ve even seen ice on the inside once, although it was thin enough that it wiped off.
When I started driving, ice inside and out was normal in the winter. Mind you, very few cars had heaters and you bought these heated strips to put on the bottom of the windscreen (inside) to demist the windscreen.
Given how long it takes the engine to warm up enough to clear the windscreen, something like that could be useful even on a modern car! Maybe powered from the cigarette lighter socket…
I’m guessing it must be the weather and the fact the cars are sitting still for days on end as I’ve been to another couple of dealers today and there’s even a thin film of ice on the inside. One actually had what looked like small icicles on the inside of the soft top. That’ll be nice and refreshing as it melts[:)]
