Copy/paste from Word

From my limited research;

Firefox registers itself as an XML editor for cut/paste purposes on Windows, TinyMCE doesn’t escape the results of a Word/OO paste correctly when running in FF.

It seems likely that the latest TinyMCE might solve this problem, but that requires a server side fix as do server-side javascript fixes.

Last resort, it looks possible to fix with client-side javascript, if a server-side fix is going to be a while, and the workaround is annoying enough to justify it.

Ramsay, correct me if i’m talking nonsense!

I think that this very small problem [probably only affects half a dozen of us] is set on the back burner, so if you have a workaround Highlift, then I for one would welcome it

This is a
test from word 2003

I’ll keep
working on a work around, ubt I don’t think that there is going to be an easy
one, unless this post works.

As I see it, three things will solve the problem though - 1)
Ditch Firefox (Reasons such as this are the main reason I never started using
it) 2) Upgrade to office 2007, which seemed to be OK 3) Use an alternative
office suite, but that is not as elegant as you will be lead to believe
(especially when somebody sends you a .docx file)

Edit:

Hmm, I suppose what you could do, is create a post, preview it, and then copy everything from the preview, minus the extra tat, and then go back to your composition, and delete everything, then paste in your new thing.

I don’t have very many word documents I can try, because I’ve been using office 2007 for a while, and most of my documents are things I’d not want to post online, for a wide range of legal & social reasons!

Hi Ramsay…ditch Firefox, no way…so much better than IE. I’ll stick with the problems for the moment, I can get around it by starting ie, but it takes about 1 minute to load a reply to a question on my computer, ff loads instantly. Your test looks ok what did you do differently to me and Andy?

I previewed it & copied the previewed text over the original, as in my work around.

You’ll be pleased to hear (well, maybe not…) that IE doesn’t get along perfectly with the updated content editor, so we’re all suffering together now [::(]
