Having fitted the Kenwood DNX 7220 and been thrilled with the result, I needed another project - yet CRUISE!
Now the NC is all fly-by-wire and cambus enabled so it is a bugger to fit yourself however with some freindly help from an auto electrition it took 6 hours! This included making up a moulding to mount the control stalk exacly where I wanted it to be under the indicator stalk. It is great!
Originally I fitted the unit because we do a lot of trouing in CWE and in my S6 I can get around 24mpg at 150k/hr on the autoroutes. So, it seemed a good idea a the time to fit one to MAD. Curiously enough it sets at 60 mph but can be clicked down in incriments of 2 mph as low as 40 mph.
Anyhow setting it at 80 mph, switching off the TC totally then doing the next roundabout using the steering wheel only is NOT to be recommended!!

What did it end up costing you to install the Cruise Control? It is something I am used to with my Golf and I would love to have it on the MX5. Whilst I know it is sacreligious to do so, I do find it very useful when on the daily commute to work each day, not to mention improving fuel economy by 10-20%
It’s kind of like getting the best of both worlds really
I’d heard that the new Facelift MK3 will have Cruise Control, and I wonder how they are doing this? Anyone know? Perhaps they will have a set of buttons that will go into the steering wheel, the opposite side to the stero controls… That would make a neat job of it…
Hi Steve - the system installed was £450 which I thought was a good price considering that it taps into the CAMBus system of the car and contols the speed elctronically. It certainly gives an extra 5mph on a motorway run as you are not constantly usng the power and the gears. I have a custom stalk that looks OEM by the indicator stalk. The new car will have it on the steering wheel.
Thanks Clive and Clix, I saw the stalk on the postings, and the website…
Think I will wait just a little longer to see what the official Mazda version looks like, so I can try and get it integrated into the steering wheel… That woudl be a huge bonus…
