Current thoughts on Kumho tyres?

I put Kumho Ecsta Sport KU39s on my NC in Jan 2016 and, after just 12000 miles, they are looking very worn and will need replacing shortly. I’m quite disappointed and will switch to another brand.

D

^^^ Seems a big difference here, I have them fitted and they have done around 13k miles in over 3 years. Looking good still and loads of tread left although I’ve not had the measure out on them.

I know I’m going to regret asking this. How the **** do you have the knowledge to be able to make this comparison?

Sorry. I already wish I hadn’t asked. Please don’t answer.

They are junk I have had some.I will never again skimp on tyres.

Which particular model and why do you consider them junk?

I have fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres to my Toyota GT86 (rear wheel drive 200bhp) and they have transformed the car. Very good wet and dry grip, they give me complete confidence in the car.

Will be fitting them to my ND when the Bridgestone Potenza tyres are worn out.

The Michelins are not cheap, but they are very good.

Well, its an advert …, so they would say that.

I replaced oem Yokohamas with Kumho KU 39s on my NC 1.8 RC, and they gave a definite improvement all round, wet and dry.

Subsequently i replaced the Kumhos with Uniroyal Rainsports and it’s another step up again - corners like it’s on rails now, and you really have to get silly to make it slip even in the wet.

Can‘t comment on wear with the uniroyals yet, but the kumhos did 20k before replacement on a smidge under 3 mil. I have no complaints about that.
