DAB Radio poor signal solutions

Hello all,

What is the best way to boost a DAB radio so as to minimise drop outs.

Halfords fitted my radio for me including one of those aerials which stick on your windscreen but I’m using Deezer through my phone more now because of the drop outs make listening to the radio frustrating.

Do amplifiers/boosters work? Are they easy to fit DIY because Halfords doesn’t sell them so they won’t fit what they don’t sell.

Thanks

I’ve used the stick on windscreen type aerials, the quality seems to vary. Try a different one, I did, paid a little more but it worked much better.

The biggest issue when halfords fit that kind of dab aerial is that they don’t scuff through the paint on the windscreen pillar so the aerial gets a proper grounding.

Thanks for the suggestions.

A dash cam is likely causing electromagnetic interference (EMI) that disrupts your car’s DAB radio signal. This usually happens because the camera’s power cable is routed too close to the DAB antenna, or the camera/hardwire kit lacks proper shielding.

Going to investigate.

I fitted a colour coded amplified satellite/DAB/FM sharks fin aerial and it works brilliantly.

Not everyone’s cup of tea, I know, but works for me!
