How do I delete a post that has been entered by mistake?
Following entering a post in the New Forum Members Welcome Area, another one has appeared below with no script. Dont know how I done that but all I can do is edit it but not delete.

It is not possible for a user to delete their post - I’m not sure why these settings were adopted, but they were.
I’ll try to find out…
Double posts are fairly common, say for example you’ve posted a message and the board stalls to refresh, you may think that the data wasn’t submitted. Sometimes it will have posted, others it may not have.
Going back into the thread afterwards, all will be revealed or not as the case may be.
“Allow user to delete posts” or words to that effect, I’ve found is generally set to “No” by default on most boards…vB, PHPBB, IPB et al.
Prevents users from “Swiss cheesing” a board, which would make the conversation flow very odd. [;)]
Oops, I found out, then forgot to report back [:$]
Indeed, the functionality is by default on the forum, another reason for keeping it is that it makes people think twice before posting - they’re less likely to post offensive material if they cannot get rid of it if it is not well recieved - there are quite a few blank posts where people have wanted to retract their statement, and I have seen on other forums (the IMDB boards spring to mind) people trying to hide what they’ve said.
Thanks Ramsay.
FWIW: A “post editing time limit” performs a good balance between user correcting spelling mistakes and complete thread destruction. (lol).
If it ain’t standard on here, just a thought but I’m well aware there’s far more pressing things to fix.
IMDB; yep, agreed.
