Did the 1.8iS come with an LSD?

I am looking at shifting my MK1 soon to replace with a MK2, I am however hoping to get one with an LSD (aiming to get a low mileage one so not to bothered if its viscous or torsen).

At first I was using this site - http://www.mx5-mazda.co.uk/ to decide which models would suit, however I am starting to doubt the accuracy of it -

For starters it states the anniversary model had a 6 speed box however I have seen anniversaries for sale with 5 speeds.

Secondly several forum posts say that ‘1.8iS’ & ‘1.8i Sport’ models come with LSD’s as standard, however the site makes no mention of this as far as I can see.

I was hoping for several peoples opinions on this…

And yes I know there are a few tests to tell if a car has one, but if the car I want is 100/150miles away im not going to drive there on the off chance!

Hi Tom,

Our 19991.8is Sport came with a LSD fitted as standard, as it was based on the 1.8is I should imagine that it had one also.

My 1999 (GORGEOUS!!) Black 1.8iS also came with a LSD as standard

This is good [:D] Keep em coming folks, my confidence towards 1.8is & sport models is growing.

Also anyone with an anniversary would love to know how many speeds your box has…5…6…7[:O]

My anniversary has a torsen lsd and a six speed box. ALL anniversary’s have them.

Ditto - my '03 1.8i Sport has the 6 speed box and the LSD.

If it’s a MK2 with ABS then it has a Torsen diff.

I thought there was a ban on this topic???

I know LSD based questions get asked alot, but from my searchs theres alot of conflicting info, so wanted to get confirmation on this.

Thanks to all that posted i’ll be looking for a MK2 1.8iS with ABS then me thinks.
