When getting the car MOT’d you must point out it has a LSD. it’s the rolling brake test that kills those diffs.
Please dont blame me for the diff you have, but it is the one you wish you had not: search bits in diff
I certainly don’t blame anyone for the type of diff on my car… and I am very grateful for the info you have provided. I would much prefer to know the diff is week, and replace it now, rather than be stuck somewhere with a broken one.
Thanks again. I will do a search as you suggest.
I suppose my next question would have to be, Which type of diff should I fit? and is this a common upgrade for mx5 owners. I would imagine there must be a company somewhere that supplies uprated diff’s? Google here I come!!
Andy.
an undamaged one is fine, it’s only the brake rollers that kill them
This any good for you? It`s a long way away though.

Agreed. Don’t try and fix something that ain’t broke. Judt take heed of the warnings on here and you should be fine.

Presuming you have a 5 speed gearbox, what you really want is a Torsen LSD diff 4.1:1 ratio. £300 should get you one (complete in housing ready to fit from a Mk1 1.8 Eunos import) the driveshafts and propshaft will fit so long as they are the same type as fitted to your Nevada.
