Do you use your 5 in the rain?

You could try this first
 linky

I cant believe some of you dont take your '5 out in the rain! Cars like these are meant to be driven not kept polished in a garage just to be brought out on a special occasion! Sad [:(]

 5 it-Rain, Snow or Blow.
I get in it, start it and smile.
The Snow is the tricky one, rain and wind no probs.

i agree with that esp after last night!!! was sideways all the way up bread and cheese hill nr southend last night…scary stuff!!!

Mines my daily drive - and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I live less than 4 miles from work in Basildon, and I think it takes me more time to put the roof down and pop the tonneau cover into place - than it does to drive to the office. But I still do it…there and back.

It was only when my car was in the garage having it’s MOT, and during the snow, when I just couldn’t get the car off the driveway - that I had to use the diesel lump.

I have to admit that this year’s snow was extreme, and where I live it would have lifted the car off the road, so I didn’t use it then.  I kept the hardtop on while it was very cold but its off now until about November.

However, I take every opportunity to drive my MX5, and with the top down as often as possible. It’s my daily transport to work.

Hi Mine is my daily drive and for all my running about here there and every where I drive it in all weathers, like today for instance went to colne at 8.30ish this morning, roof down hat and sunglasses on,  passed 3 other 5’s with the roof up and the owners had there window down and sunglasses on… weird… it was a great drive and blew the cobwebs away thats for sure

As my Eunos is the only means of transport to get too and from work, I have no choice.[;)]

I try and have the roof down as much as possible (even had it down on Jan 2nd, coming home from work)[:D]

Some of my work colleagues didn’t make it into work in the snow, I DID[:P]

Mine gets driven all year round, as long as the roads are dry. It’s a second toy/weekend car, so why would I want to drive it in poor weather? I have a daily hack car that gets me from A to B otherwise.

I know they’re meant to be driven, but I also reckon they should be looked after [:)] They’ll be proper classics one day [;)]

How sad you only take you '5 out if its dry, what waste of time you owning one. Tell you what, sell it to someone who will appreciate driving it, you dont deserve to own one fella. Sorry to sound harsh but there ya go! I use mine 365 days of the year, thats why they have such good heaters.

Sorry, what? Who are you again? You obviously know my driving habits inside out…

I don’t deserve to own one, because I’d rather not drive it when it’s pissing with rain? Grow up please.

You obviously won’t be as fussed when yours starts rotting from the inside of the arches out, so why don’t you sell it to someone who will appreciate it [8-)]

Oh and I never said I didn’t use it “365 days a year” - I.e. when it’s cold. But then the thread’s about using it in the rain, isn’t it [;)]

I never take mine out in the rain but this is no hardship because Melbourne is in the grip of a ten-year drought so almost every day is fine… but we may run out of drinking water soon.

Context is everything: I never take mine out in the rain but this is no hardship because Melbourne is in the grip of a ten-year drought so almost every day is fine… but we may run out of drinking water soon.

I really can’t see the point of this thread - does it matter (and to who) if a 5 is used in the rain or not???

If there was a serious question behind it, say “Has anyone had any major problems using a 5 in the rain?” then probably I’d take more interest… who cares who does or who doesn’t use their 5 in the rain???

Pah! [:#]

Hi all,

I use my 5 every day and love it, if you wait for a sunny day in this country then you will be waiting along time I think they are great to drive in the wet as long as you are not stupid with it, its great to here the sound of the rain bouncing of the roof, you cant beat it!

I do not understand why people only use them when the sun is out, it does not have to be sunny all the time to enjoy your 5.

bye. Sunglasses

So you think the MX5 cant be driven when its wet for some reason?? Hmmmm, you really dont know much about cars, paintwork, rustproofing etc etc…my car is 15 years old, has been driven all winter (with the top down on sunny days) and has not one piece of rust anywhere. Why are you scared of rain??? Rain should not hurt a car or make it go rusty, you have a bizzare view of how metal on cars works.

You fella are just a plonker who would be better off driving a Nissan Micra or similar, you have no idea about having fun in one of the best convertibles ever made, sell it and do us all a favour and stop posting stupid posts about driving a car in the rain, if everyone were like you all cars would be off the road 90% of the time in the UK. Ok, this thread is boring me now as the person who started it obviously has had rabies in the past and is scared of water, no more posts from me, will post on a topic that is worthy of a mention, not talk of cars falling to pieces just cos they are exposed to water.Jeez, get a life and go move to a desert if you are so scared of getting your car wet.

No, I’m afraid it is you who don’t understand… and calling people ‘plonkers’ is not a way to convince them.

Asked a simple question, most adults can give a civil answer without abusing someone.

Time for some thread lock - this one is getting silly!

Just for you Goof, my first post in this thread[;)]

Sorry guys we can’t have personal abuse thrown around on the forum, it’s locked
