It could just be internet talk but I thought Mazda wanted the ND to be 1.5 worldwide but the American market demanded a ‘proper’ engine. That’s 2000cc minimum and what America wants ……
America wants a turbocharged 2.0l. Mazda know better. The 2.0l naturally aspirated suits the ND chassis well, and is more reliable and a nicer drive than a turbo.
I;m pretty sure the 1,5 was aimed at Mazda’s home market where small cars with small engines are the norm.
