Hey guys and gals,
Since ive had my 5 the roads of south east have been not very forgiving my drivers side wing mirror on my '94 mk1 eunos has come loose now i have already spotted the two cross-head screws at the top under the mirror, but unable to turn i have also found that there is two nuts on the inside after i took off the door card but there is no way to access with a spanner or any kind of tool to hold the nuts in place to tighten. Have any of you had problems like this before and found resolve? If so could you please enlighten me with his info many thanks.
Dave
G’day mate
The nuts inside the door should be fixed, so no need for a spanner. That is unless someone has fitted some kind of aftermarket mirror. Get hold of some Plus Gas, and get some onto the bottom of the thread inside the door, and around the joint under the screw head. See what happens after a few days. BTW Plus gas is a much better penetrating oil than WD40. If you can find a supplier, the best freeing agent on the market is an American product called SFR. Used in the printing industry, but for some reason not a lot of UK outlets.

Hey geoff,
Thanks m8y i will have a look at that today or tomorrow. cheers
Geoff like you said the nuts were sunk in and stationary th main problem was they had rusted away from the body, a squirt of wd40 (the only thing i had to hand) and a day later managed to undo them, holding the nuts in place my good good friend dropped a few tag welds on the nuts holding them in place (genius) i grinded them down made a new rubber seal gasket thingy and bolted them back on superb! fits like a dream
thanks
Same problem, miirror came right off in my hand last night whilst I was cleaning it. Bolt’s completely rusted in the part still connected to the door and similarily in the inside of the mirror as well, anyone got advice on bext way to get it out. Also found a rusty piece of spring rattling about inside the mirror what does that do?
ta as always

Got a similar problem, the drivers side electric door mirror is lose and I can’t figure out why?, the 2 screws under the mirror (after rotating it to reveal them) are tight, but it still rattles. My temporary fix was a I happen to be eating an ice lolly (it was a nice day) and had the crazy idea to jam the stick in the gap and tighten it! It’s not very professional, but it worked. Any suggestions would be appreciated. See pictures, if they actually upload…
Are the screws tight as in holding the mirror or are they rusted in their holes? Will they unscrew?
Remove the mirror, drill out the nuts and rebolt with new bolts/nuts, washers but you have to hold the nut with spanner on the inside
Hi Roadster Robbie and Robert Maguire,
Thanks for your replies, I managed to loosen the 2 screws carefully after an overnight soak in WD40 and retighten them carefully and it worked.
Hi, Hoping for a bit of help on this myself. Some low life went to town on my Passenger side mirror
and left only the black thing with motor attached, annoyingly it still worked but has no casing what so ever, but I imagine I cannot just buy the shell of the wing mirror so ended up buying a whole unit.
Problem is, I cannot for the life of me move the unit to reveal the holes to then screw it into the car, this is a manual mirror to see me through till I can afford an electric one :(. I have WD40’d the heck out of it but still wasn’t budging, I have now applied some 3 in 1 oil overnight in hope that has some kind of effect. Can anyone point me where I am going wrong with this?
thanks!
mk2.5 btw
