Eunos headlight bulb question

Hi guys, the headlight bulb’s gone on my Eunos. It’s a 1990 model. My mate is a mechanic and, although he hasn’t inspected the car yet, he reckons that the whole headlamp unit will need replacing because it’s an import. Is this correct? Or can I just change the bulb?

Sorry if this has been asked before, any advice would be appreciated.

The Eunos has a sealed unit - unless a former keeper has changed it.

Take a look at the lens and if it says something like “Koto” then it’s a sealed unit.

In that case you’ll either need a replacement sealed unit or buy a new set of units that take a H4 bulb - see here:-

If these are the Wipac Quadoptic unit then I’ve had them and would recommend them.

Goof, thanks a lot for the info mate, will check the lenses tonight, and thanks for the link too, very useful.

Just a note that Koto also do non sealed units and bulbs so its worth just undoing the three retaining screws and popping the retainer off and seeing if the bulb unit is part of the headlight or not.

Have a good look and be careful to make sure they are the retaining screws and not the adjustment screws you undo.

If you swap to standard H4’s with bulbs rather than sealed you will have better lights as the sealed are lower wattage.

And another thank you, will check as you say. [:)]

If you need the sealed beam unit then Halfords do them.(if they have one in stock)

They are listed as " Ring SBU7014 Bulb Sealed Beam " and are £6.99 each.

I put one in mine temprorarliy until I changed to a bulb type fitting .

Well worth changing to the non sealed beam units and fit them with uprated bulbs (Halfords +90%)

The sealed beam units available in the UK are non-halogen lower wattage items, intended for older cars like Triumphs etc.
