A couple of little pics I took at the car park before work this morning, a really nice drive in with the roof down in the winter sun [:D]
Dont you just hate leaving the car there when you could be out driving it [:@]

Looking good - how did it handle?
Unfortunately, this was the only part of the trip that had any snow covering.
The roads on the way in were clear, but it still took twice as long as normal to get in!
Boy that looks good! I love my red Mk1 but if I had to chose another look I think yours is hard to beat - bloody gorgeous.
I hope you had your shades on:)
Nice pics by the way, car looks shiny as!(you haven’t been polishing it before work have you?;-))
Cheers
Ben
Your car looks as sweet as, Bluenoes. Great pics

Thanks all [:D] Last polish was on Saturday I think [;)]
Almost put it into a wall this morning [:O]
Tiptoeing round as it was -5 outside, i hit some black ice going round a sharp left hand bend. Before I knew it, I was up on the kerb and just managed to pull it back about "2 from a wall!
I guess I just hit the gas too quick after coming out of the bend [:$]
A very lucky escape, no damage done.
A big eye opener though as to how easy it is to lose it so quickly in icy conditions, even at slow speeds!
The thing that struck me was the fact that I was driving, roof down, knowing it is bloody cold, so taking it real easy, but you get all these lunatics in their tin tops not realising how cold it is hurtling along at ridiclulous speeds. That’s the scary part [:|]
My poor little car is normally BRG but is currently more salt covered and looks dreadfull. On top of which, I have also gone sideways a few times at virtually no speed at all - this am I had a pi****k behind me on a country lane at 7am who decided I wasn’t going fast enough and thought it would be a good idea to ‘blind me’ with his full beam to make me go faster!!! ARGHHH
How often have you washed yours to keep it so shiney!! Well done.
Thanks
[:D]
I usually try and wash it once a week, but the last one was the first time in a few weeks because of xmas and stuff. Gave it a bit of a polish too this time round [:)]
It seems to come up clean pretty easy to be honest now. Takes longer to clean the wheels than the rest of the car [:@]
PS dont think they use salt on the roads in Manchester, thats why it stays fairly clean and i end up spinning around!!
Not seen a single gritter in the last 24 hours and i bet its not got aove freezing in that time.
Nice and clean Bluenoes, mine is the same as Ottey’s I bet when you got to work it didn’t look that good? Ottey is it me or do people in general appear to drive closer behind you to intimidate, as a relative new “sports car” driver this seams to be happening… or maybe I’m getting paranoid
Cheers Zippy [B]
Yes, it was hard work getting it up to where I wanted it. But seriously now its decent, I just try and wash it every week using a flash car wash jobby and thats it. [:)]
To get it there in the first place I have tried allsorts, but settled on the meguairs 3 stage cleaning system and also a clay bar. Ive only used these full stages 2 or 3 times in the last 2 and a half years.
However, by way of a free sample, I found what I think is a better top coat than the meguars stage 3.
I now use farecla professional high gloss car wax whenever Im feeling energetic, probably every couple of months or so. Since I started using that, it really seems to keep the shine longer and is easier to clean, so I will be sticking with it. Its so easy to put on too. [:D]

This happens to me pretty much every time i go out. Of course i would never call myself an MX-5 zealot, of course not;-)
To be honest where i live it’s people driving tin top Chelsea tractors and Focus RS’s so there’s no chance most of these types of people would ever notice a decent car anyway, but i’ve had things like slogans written on the snow on top of my car when it’s icy and other childish names thrown at me because i have a ‘cheap little’ sports car.
Not like the MX-5 is the best selling two seater car ever or anything like that, oh no;), and i don’t suppose it’s in the Guinness Book of World Records for selling over three quarters of a million units since it’s introduction either!
Long live the MX-5:)
Cheers,
Ben
Just so you dont feel quite so bad about your near miss… The exact same thing happened to me too! I was joining a big dual carridgeway going up a steep sliproad to get up to it, so I put my foot down a tad too much… Rear end swings madly out to the right, which I correct, only after the front left goes into and over the curb, gravel flies everywhere and finally get it straight again! :S Anyone know of any good MX-5 winter tyres!?
Zippy, its not you - I’ve only had mine for 9 months and have noticed the same - it seems worse now the weathers been interesting, or is it a South East thing as I didn’t pick up on it in Devon!!! I now can’t see the car for salt and the headlights now need a major scrub as they are rubbish!! Must clean it on my next day off!!
I wonder if part of it is that they seem closer because you’re lower down than you would be in a hatchback or other “normal” car… That said, I’ve had people driving annoyingly close behind me in the Corsa too, so I hope it doesn’t get worse when I get the '5!
All the talk of sliding around makes me glad I’ve not seen much snow this year - I live inside the M25, and we don’t tend to get a lot of it. Had 1 fairly light dusting so far this year, and there’s hardly been any on the roads. I did get back from driving to Birmigham recently, and noticed the car was covered in spatter from the road… I guess I’ll just have to get into the habit of cleaning it regularly!
I really don’t mind drivers following too close - easy fix is not to slow down for the next corner or roundabout (where & when safe), and watch them understeer towards the kerb… soooo much fun to be had!
Don’t try it until you know the car, and everything is setup right - can be embarrassing otherwise I suppose!
