Hi all, new member here based in Somerset. Being new, perhaps it’s me, but I can’t seem to find any events listed for the Western region? I’ve studied the events calendar but I can’t seem to see any? Anyone able to to put me right please?
Hi Chris, AFAIK there’s no regional co-ordinator for the Western region at present? Was wondering this myself as I’d like to take part and there must be a few of us in this neck of the woods…
Hi Jason, thanks for your message. Yes, another member in Wells messaged me yesterday to say that was the reason why. Well, with him, yourself, and me, that’s three so far lol, must there must be more around here. I’m just outside Radstock, whereabouts are you?
Three! That’s nearly a convoy…
I’m in Street. There’s at least one other NC near me that I pass in Glastonbury and a friend has an NB. He might not be the club joining type though…
It shouldn’t be difficult to find more. Seeing that we all wave at each other! ![]()
Hello.
Bit late to the party on this, but I have recently moved (actually in the process of moving) to the area, (Glastonbury area) from Lincolnshire.
I have an ITB’ed mk1 Eunos that I have largely rebuilt myself over the last 12 years.
Anyways up for a run out, but car is still away from me at the moment…..2026 will I promise myself be the year I drive it more.
Hi Mark, and welcome to Gods own country!
. Your car looks very interesting from your profile pic, any more of her?
I could talk for hours on the car….. Rescued from the crusher as it had an unrecorded accident, i got the car for free if the owner got the fancy suspension off of it and the private reg back…….that was 12 years ago.
Various engine upgrades and even engines and interiors later it looks like this today and is now my road car having prior been track only.
She’s lovely, thanks for posting the extra photos! The alloys look great and really suit the car, are they from an Alfa? The engine looks fab and that it means business, what is it?
They do look alfa inspired don’t they…..they are Fortran E9 wheels, an old and it has to be said unpopular JDM wheel back in the 90-00’s. 2 piece forged wheel in MX% fitment and OEW offset. 14” and were £100 on ebay years ago, only ever seen 1 other set for sale on a Honda. I love them, but the chrome hollow spokes were fractionally lighter per wheel!
Engine is a proper mongrel, built as a passion project really as it would have been easier to VVT swap it. The original 1.8 developed a thirst for oil (1L per 60 miles) and lacked a bit of oomph, the pics show the state of the bearings and the piston sides….oops. It did make 163bhp
I used a VVT bottom end for the oil pump and better compression. I then added my early 1.8 head that has been skimmed 42thou, has 3 angle valves, Piper 285hydralic cams, some port matching and a Mazdaspeed 4-2-1 header and the Jenvey Heritage ITB’s. It runs a MS2 ECU from Phil at Extra EFI and has a bit of a safe map todate…..we can get more out of it but it needs a RR tune really. I would hope for about 170bhp when all done, but it is the noise!
The alloys really suit the car, she looks really great on them, and they’re only 14”? The engine part was lost on me lol, but I’m here to learn! When she’s ready it’ll be great to see and hear her! It’s great that you saved her from the crusher. Hopefully we’ll have an area organiser by then and we get some meets up arranged.
South west NB here from Gill to add to the list
Hello
Also late to the party. The Club is on the lookout for an Area Coordinator for the Western area. If anyone fancies the role in organising a monthly meet, sending out a monthly email with upcoming events and maintaining the calendar then please contact me. Contact details in STHT.
In the meantime, if no one is brave enough to take that step but someone wants to organise a social meet then I can add the event to the calendar and send an email to Western members, just get in touch.
Thanks
Helen
Maybe a cafe meet up/chedder gorge? More so for warmer times but always down for a little ride.
Last time I went by the Cafe at Burrington Combe it looked decidedly shut, appears to be confirmed by Google but there is plenty of carparking up the hill where we could meet.
Love it. Maybe a cheeky picnic? People put their name down to bring something. [maybe ott tbf] but im always down for a good trip. Maybe something in later feb would be a good point to go for?
