Hey all, can anyone confirm if these lights are legal in the UK? http://www.automotivelightstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=26#. If not . . . could you tell me why not whilst I go off to sit in the corner and sulk as I really want that look for my project car (I suspect it is highly likely they aren’t legal as I have yet to see a UK car with them fitted). If anyone has them, how have you found them (Fitting, lighting, condensation, etc)? Ta muchly
So long as you can make the lights set to the MOT requirements, then I don’t see a problem. How much light you would get is another matter. If you are building a show car, then probably not a problem.
Thanks Geoff. I think I’ll ask the guys at the MOT station about the regulations as I’m going to have to take the car in there next week anyway. . . I’ll let everyone know what they say!
Can’t see your pic’ but I ran a set of dual flush headlights under perspex covers for a while and they were totally legal. Passed the MOT no problem and the tester even set the beams for me.
However, they were a beggar to fit and although they looked great the light output was no better than the standard sealed beams, so I sold them and went for the Lo-pro style pop-ups.
Thanks Passell - the dual type in a carbon mounting under lexan covers is the type I am keen to fit so it’s good to hear that you ran that style with no legal issues! I’m not that bothered about increasing the light intensity over stock sealed beams as my Eunos is a third car and rarely gets used at night. Must put aside some cash for their purchase now! Woohoo
Ditto - Black Betty is a fourth car and used rarely - but she went to the Classic LM last year and I didn’t fancy what could have been lots of night driving with those self-same carbon fibre bucket/perspex cover flush lights.
To adjust them properly for Continental driving meant taking the covers and buckets off. One heck of a job! There is a pic of the car with that set up on a website somewhere.
I’d load a pic on here for you - but it isn’t easy to do any more
