Folding the tonneau

I just found this page on a random web search. It might be usefull to someone.

(The interesting bit is just over half way down the page).

 Yes,very useful. Many thanks.

However, how many people actually bother to put their tonneau cover on?

Not me - the HardDog gets in the way! [:D]

One came with my Eunos when I bought it, but I’ve never used it apart from just after I bought the car when I tried to fit it - gave up after 10 minutes of walking back and forth around the car trying to get it clipped on. Too much faffing around for what gain? So the roof hinge is hidden? Hmmmm. Then you have to take the thing off when you get where you’re going to put the hood up anyway.

It stops the hood moving, essential if you have a Mohair, it also stops the sun fading the inside.

i used mine twice then carefully folded it up & threw it in the loft. bloody nuisance

Also, I would rather clean bird ■■■■ of the tonneau than the inside of the mohair (The seats and centre console on the other hand have to chance it [:D] )

I like the look of the tonneau cover when it’s fitted, finishes the car off nicely and i can imagine i would use one if i was parked up at a show meeting or something but in practicality terms i think tonneau covers are akin to a chocolate fireguard[:)]

Ben.

Mine goes on if weathers guaranteed & we are having a day out. Dont bother for short trips obviously. Looks much better on IMO & only takes a minute to fit once youve perfected the art.

Dave, that looks very, very nice[:)]

If i was going on a motorway trip or something like that i’d definitely use one and i do think they finish the car off very nicely, it’s just i never really use my car and any journeys i go on are no longer than 5 miles there and back! so i’d never get use out of a tonneau cover!

Ben.

Cheers Ben…You need to get out more lol Just jump in & go for a drive.

What do you mean “motorway trip” ?  I always plan a “B” road route. These cars are meant to be driven not steered in a straight line!

For those of you who have trouble fitting these covers how about one of these?

Interestingly (or not) the Owners Manual says “Never drive with the top partially folded or uncovered. Otherwise the top and/or the top covering could be damaged.”

I tried to follow the roof folding instructions But got it wrong…

On the plus side, I do now have a rather nice vinyl origami swan [:P]

The car looks cheap with the tonneau cover off when hood is down. It takes 20 seconds to put on and 2 seconds to take off and makes the car look 100 times better. Easy maths.
