Footwell lights MKI VSpec 96 - No Wiring Connectors

I bought two second hand footwell lights this w/e and when I came to fit them, I expected to find the electrical connectors under the dash but none were there.

I’ve read somewhere that Mazda stopped putting footwell lights into the MX5 after 1996.  I thought there was one standard wiring loom fitted to all MK1s so I would expect these footwell light connectors to be there!

Does anyone know if I wire these two lights to my courtesy light if that would overload the courtesy light wiring?

 I bought some  about a year ago from ebay,remove glove box and spliced into wiring from interior light,they came with instructions and  fitted into the blanking plates spot on.
